Get Down, Turn Around: Humility and Repentence

William Dawson once told (a) story to illustrate how humble the soul must be before it can find peace.

He said that, at a revival meeting, a little lad. . . went home to his mother and said, "Mother, John So-and-so is under conviction and is seeking peace, but he will not find it tonight, Mother." "Why, William?" said she. "Because he is only down on one knee, Mother, and he will never get peace until he is down on both knees."

Until conviction of sin brings us down on both knees, until we are completely humbled, until we have no hope in ourselves left, we cannot find the Savior.

Hardcore Tea

"Don't tell me tea is not hard-core. Tea was INVENTED to be hard-core; namely, to keep the English from freezing to death in their own ungodly weather. Coffee was just invented to make Italians crazier than they already are."

Desperate Confidence

"Oh grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the salvation of man!
With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes."
~ Psalm 108:12-13 ~

It is when God is our only hope that we truly have hope.

Are We Asking the Wrong Questions?

So much of our perception of Christianity is upside down. We wonder if we can trust God when the real issue is, "Can He trust me?" We wonder if He loves us. Of course He does- He is love, and He extends His love to us unconditionally. The right question is, "Do I love Him?" We wonder whether He will be faithful to us. Our concern should be, "Will we be faithful to Him?" And so it is with pleasure. We wonder if God will make us happy- will He bring pleasure to us- when the more pressing question is, "Will I bring pleasure to Him?"

Taking the Scenic Route

I really enjoyed my parents' visit last week, and I felt especially spoiled considering that they took their anniversary trip to visit me! It was really good to see them, talk to them, introduce them to my students, and show them around my home and school. One of my favorite things we did was to do some exploring on Rosebud's Scenic Route 5. Check out what we discovered...

Different, But Very Cool: Beautiful Ending by Barlow Girl

My New Kitty!!

I finally have a kitty!! Now that I have a house out at He Dog, I have a place where I can keep a pet, so I have been waiting for someone in Okreek to offer kittens. Last year, when I was living in my apartment, I had so many offers that I had to turn down. So I figured it wouldn't take too long. :) But then again, it is always harder to find something when you are looking for it!

A couple weeks ago, I mentioned to Gabby, Jeanette and Chelsea that I was on the market for a kitten. Gabby told me that her cat, Psycho Kitty (yeah, lets hope that's not hereditary!! :D had a new litter, and that they were looking for homes for the kittens. I was excited to be getting an Okreek kitty, especially one from Gabby, because I have good memories of going over to her house in the summertime to see her kittens.

I went over and picked out a dark kitten with a gray underside. She is fluffy and cuddly, and had a brother who looked just like her. I had to wait a couple of weeks, until she was old enough to eat on her own, but Sunday I picked her up and took her home with me. I enjoy having my Pisicutza around, even though she would hardly let me out the door when I had to leave for work!
